A busy month sees two new sites for Tesco

In a busy January, New Media Development launched two new sites for Tesco providing a careers site for the newly named Tesco Bank and a student services site (Students At Tesco) for students working at Tesco keeping them informed and allowing them to request store transfers between Tesco stores local to their home and term time addresses.

The Tesco Bank Careers site was developed in conjunction with the Edinburgh office of tmp.worldwide and Hire Strategies and provides a full career site that integrates with the Taleo Business Edition ATS from Taleo Corporation. The integration work included creating a custom client for the TBE API converting the data into an HR-XML feed that could then be imported into the career site for search and display.

The Students At Tesco site provides help and information to students who currently work at Tesco and allows them to request transfers between stores. The site uses a custom form managed by the New Media CMS and integrates with a Lotus Notes system that allows the Student Transfers team to manage the requests effectively. The site also integrates with the Students At Tesco career management portal that is operated by WCN and includes a customised authorisation mechanism allowing students to have a single sign in that provides a seamless transfer between the two systems.

New Media adds increased flexibility to our CMS

New Media Development rolled out several upgrades and improvements to several of the modules that make up the New Media CMS. With several upgrades to the Job Manager, POD manager, Form manager and Competition manager and the addition of an all new modular import mechanism for pulling job vacancy data into the Job Manager from third party systems such as Taleo Business Edition.

In addition to the Taleo integration, the Job manager now includes extensive integration with the Google Analytics tracking platform providing web administrators with unparalleled detail in the online attract and recruit process.

Upgrades to the POD manager include the addition of a feature we are calling Conditional POD's allowing a website administrator to control the appearance of POD's in a page depending on certain conditions being met. If the conditions are not met then the POD simply does not appear.

The form and competition manager have also had extensive overhauls and both include several bug fixes and enhancements that improve the user experience when interacting with a website using these modules.
